Product Applications:
Used in the chemical industry to manufacture wire mesh demisters and mist eliminators; for eliminating or capturing mist and liquid droplets entrained in gases during catalyst, distillation, evaporation, and absorption processes; and in mechanical equipment manufacturing processes for oil-gas separation, oil-water separation, vapor-liquid separation, oil-gas separation demisters, oil-water separators, vibration damping and noise reduction, gas scrubbing towers, distillation towers, packed towers, and sealing elements.
In typical operations, the diameter of dispersed droplets in gases ranges from approximately 0.1 to 5000 μm. Particles larger than 100 μm generally have a faster settling velocity, making their separation relatively easy. Droplets larger than 50 μm can typically be separated using gravity settling; droplets larger than 5 μm can be separated using inertial impaction and centrifugal separation. For even smaller fine mists, methods must be employed to aggregate them into larger particles, or fiber filters and electrostatic demisters can be used.
Separation diameter: Droplets larger than 3 to 5 μm.
Collection efficiency: 98%–99.8%
Gas pressure drop: Only 250–500 Pa

Selection of Wire Mesh Demister Structure:
There are two types of wire mesh demister structures: disc-shaped and strip-shaped.

The disc-shaped structure involves winding wire mesh into a demister of the required diameter. This structure requires the wire mesh to have interlaced corrugations with consistent density during winding; otherwise, gas paths may form, affecting the demister's effectiveness. The disc-shaped structure is only suitable for smaller diameter wire mesh demisters, typically in the range of 300mm to 600mm.

The strip structure is a commonly used design. It consists of layers of wire mesh laid flat, with a predetermined number of layers. A grid is placed above and below each mesh layer, pressing the mesh to the required height for the demister. It is then secured as a single piece using spacers and binding wire. The shape and size of the strip mesh blocks depend on the diameter of the demister. Strip structure demisters are suitable for a wide range of diameters, generally from 300mm to 5200mm.
